Irish wood turner

Liam BourkeLiam is an Irish woodturner. Native Irish ash, oak , cherry, sycamore et al are supplied by his daughter, a tree surgeon in her own right. The more exotic timbers like mahogany, teak , ebony etc, are all recycled pieces - reclaimed and reworked.
Pieces are mostly given a finish of Danish oil, carnuba wax or whatever the particular piece and timber demands.

What we have to offer:

  • Exquisite originals, in imaginative designs, crafted from native Irish timber.
  • Unique one-offs in reclaimed exotic woods, recycled into inspirational and highly desirable works of art.
  • Pieces can be made on a commission basis.
  • Each item is marked, authenticating it as a piece made by the Irish wood craftsman Liam Bourke.
  • New items are added as and when they become available.

Liam's Words:

I have quite an aversion to repetition. Unless as a matched pair, or part of a set, I try not to repeat a project piece. I do not copy or imitate, or 'draw inspiration from' other people's work. I therefore must admit to the occasional pang of professional jealousy if I see a design I particularly admire, and the green-eyed monster is usually accompanied by the 'why-didn't-I-think-of-that' syndrome.
My objective, therefore, is to produce original 'one-offs'. Pieces and projects in unique designs, mostly functional, occasionally purely decorative, executed to my own exacting standards.
While it's not possible to 'please all of the people all of the time', it's possible to try.
